`The Good Huswifes Handmaide for the Kitchen: A Period Recipe Book edited by Stuart Peachey from the Historical Cookery Book Series published by Stuart Press. 1st edition published 1992 Copyright Historical Management Associates Ltd. 1992.
72 page A5 booklet. The following is taken from the Introduction.
“This book is a transcription rather than a facsimile as the original is in a rather difficult to read Gothic script. Spelling and punctuation have been retained. The original was only numbered on every other page – this transcription does not attempt to maintain the original page numbers and a modern index has been added at the end. The original index has also been included for completeness.”
Anyone wishing to reproduce one of the dishes may need to use a little imagination in interpreting the text. These old recipes may mention ingredients that may no longer be regarded as legal or safe, and some care should be taken in attempting to reproduce them.
Some slight scuffing to the cover, otherwise virtually as new.
