Unpainted 54mm plastic model from the Café Storme range of plastic figures that were given away by this Belgian company with 500g packs of their coffee in the 1960s.
Don John of Austria 1547-1578 AD. The bareheaded rider wears a short cloak, doublet and hose and boots. He has a sword on his left hip and carries a baton in his left hand (the top half of which is missing). The figure is approximately 52mm tall. He is mounted on an unarmoured horse. The rearing model is approximately 60mm tall and 56mm long nose to tail.
The base of the horse is marked in Dutch and French Don Juan van Oosterijk VIII 10 Don Juan d’Autriche. One edge of the base is marked Café Storme Koffie and the other edge is marked 1547-1578 the birth and death dates of Don John.
Condition virtually as new apart from the damaged baton, mentioned above.
