45 page booklet containing twenty different scenarios designed for use with Wargames Research Group’s Renaissance Rules 1420-1700 by George Gush.
All these scenarios are played using a table size of 3ft x 2ft with 15mm figures and were originally devised for the Bun Shop Pairs annual event (a knockout tournament over two days). This was a unique competition in which pairs of wargamers played the same scenario from opposite sides in two different rooms. The combined result was then adjudicated after a limited number of turns giving a winning team.
This format gave rise to two unusual conditions of play – firstly the gamers walked into a room and played with armies that they had never seen before and on previously unseen terrain, secondly the forces were not necessarily balanced and some scenarios were extremely unbalanced. Low grade troop types with unusual equipment and small unit size tend to predominate.
They are best used, in the way in which they were originally devised, for a club or inter-club competition or as a basis for a friendly game where entertainment is more important than fighting a balanced encounter battle.
